Susan Davies, a thriving executive, is married to Jack, a local garage mechanic often referred to as her 'bit of rough.' However, Jack is tired of being the 'kept man.' He wants to leave Susan but is reluctant to give up the lifestyle or his affair with Margaret. Then, Susan experiences a fatal 'accident' in her newly repaired car.
Susan isn't adjusting well to her existence as a ghost. She has to endure sharing a chilly graveyard with the outspoken Alice (burned as a witch in 1647) and the proper Harriett (stabbed to death in 1884). She despises being trapped by an unseen barrier that seemingly confines the three of them. And why can't Alice and Harriett understand that the car accident was merely an accident?
The problem is that if Susan isn't 'reconciled' to her murder soon, she will be taken away to spend eternity in the Sea of Lost Souls, which Alice and Harriett dread above all else. They need to persuade Susan that she was murdered before the 'things' arrive to take her.
The evidence is located beyond the graveyard, and they cannot access it until Alice reveals she has discovered a method to bypass the barrier, allowing her to visit the living and overhear their discussions. Can she bring Susan along to hear Jack's confession?
Fates Thread combines elements of a ghost story, a murder mystery, and light comedy. It’s a race against time to rescue a soul.
